EmpowerYou Yoga is not just a weekly yoga class. It is a full 20-week program created for young adults – tackling yoga topics that are relevant to living a more balanced lifestyle between the ages of 14 to 18 years old. This program works to teach participants to tune-in to their own bodies; How to be more grounded and less reactive to what’s going on around them, and find practices and tools that work to handle stress more effectively.
EmpowerYou Yoga will discuss, but is not limited to, the following topics:
- the 8 Limbs of Yoga
- Monthly Cycles
- Acceptance & Love
- Distractions & Attention
- Different Styles of Yoga
- Meditation & Breathwork
Each class has approximately one hour of movement and reflection per week to be done at home on the participants’ own time alongside attending the weekly live classes. This class might be applicable for 40 hours toward high school physical education credits – check with your high school to see if these hours will count. EmpowerYou Yoga will run out of the Morden Recreation Centre (Access Even Centre) on Wednesday evenings from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. starting on September 18th and going until January 29.
