Whispers are the little voices of insight, or tiny beautiful nuggets of wisdom that just seem to land at random times and suddenly – boom – we are able to see the world differently. I don’t sit down to make them up. I get them through what I read, what others’ say; they just find me.
November 13, 2024 - Giving From an Empty Cup
"If you are giving from a cup that is not overflowing, then you're not actually giving... you're stealing from yourself." (quoted from a yoga course with Brett Larkin and Guru Singh). Let that sink in. We like to think that giving and giving some more is honourable—that this automatically makes us a good person and we have saved ourselves a place in happily-ever-after-land. However, giving of yourself when your cup is not overflowing (i.e. stealing from ourselves) is not a good thing even if we think it's for the greater good of helping others. You will not make the world a better place by continually giving pieces of yourself away. You will not save anyone; you will eventually disappear; authentic you will no longer be available to show up and you will start to live this life based on other people's expectations of you. This does not mean that we should live with a 'them versus me' mentality. It does not need to be either/or - it can be 'them and me.' HOW to do this, is up to you. For now, start with being aware of how full your cup is. <3 Am
November 4, 2024 - The Cliché Why
"You just need to find your 'why'." This phrase seems so basic on the surface, but really it touches on something much deeper. It is, to some, an almost impossible thing to consider if you have no understanding of yourself on a multifaceted level. How many people say their why is "to help people." How many life coaches are out there right now striving to help people? Not to diminish anyone in this role/career, but in reality, you can find a person advertising their life advice programs or creating e-courses every few pages on social media. How many people can have the exact same why? Seems almost generic at this point. So then what? Maybe we should be changing the sentiment. Maybe we should be saying "you just need to find your version of you" and the why will naturally appear. <3 Am
October 28, 2024 - Being Human is Difficult
It's important to remember that sometimes being human feels difficult. Our bodies are amazingly complex, not just in the physical sense but the other layers of humanness (emotions, thoughts, etc.), too. Life is meant to have highs and lows. So give yourself grace when life feels hard. That is part of your humanness. Every human being goes through the ups and downs of emotions and struggles with how to do life on this planet. Just keep reminding yourself that you are connected to something bigger - whatever your belief system is, there is something bigger at play. It's NOT just you here on this planet doing life completely on your own. You are not alone; you are fully supported and have everything you need already within yourself.

October 24, 2024 - Don't Fear Choice Deep down, sometimes we are waiting for someone else to tell us what our next steps should be. We don't want to be responsible for choosing. We pause or don't move at all because we are afraid of making a "wrong" choice. To some, the only result of a choice is either a good or a bad ending depending what we choose. However, it is important to remember that choices simply have outcomes (some negative, some positive). As humans we always grow or change based on these outcomes. We grow and evolve from every choice we make. The feelings that go along with the outcomes won't always be pleasant. It is, however, important to remember that we are meant to experience the polarity of good/bad, positive/negative, emotions. Humans were never meant to ONLY feel the "good". This is truly impossible. Just keep choosing; just keep growing. <3 Am
